Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand had quite the run-in versus the Penguins on Tuesday night. Marchand was up to his usual no good, and this time he is getting punished a bit harsher.
The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday night that Marchand would be suspended for six games for roughing and high-sticking Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Marchand has already been suspended earlier this season for slew footing
Oliver Ekman-Larsson, which was assessed a three game penalty. This marks the eighth suspension of his career, and it will also be the longest, surpassing two previous five game suspensions.
"Players who repeatedly violate league playing rules will be severely punished for each new violation," Player Safety noted in a video, citing terms of the NHL/NHLPA collective bargaining agreement. "Marchand has been suspended seven times, and fined five times previously."
Marchand currently leads the Bruins in scoring with 21 goals and 49 points, and losing him will be a big blow for the team.
