Former player, coach and Cup champ passes away at 79

Sadly, we have to announce the passing of former NHL player, and coach, Ted Green, He died Tuesday, October 8th.

Green played 620 games in the NHL, along with 452 games in the WHA. In those 620 NHL games, Green was able to record 48 goals and 254 points. He also totaled 1024 penalty minutes in that time, which led to him getting the nickname of "Terrible Ted."

Green was part of two Stanley Cup winning teams with the Boston Bruins in 1970 and 1972. He also went on to win five more cup as an assistant coach with the Edmonton Oilers. He was head coach of the Oilers from 1991 to 1994, where he lead them to a conference finals appearance in 1992.

A moment of silence was held before the Oilers-Rangers game on October 12 and another will he held in Edmonton Wednesday.
