Defenceman Andrew O'Brien, a fourth-round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks on 2012, is looking for a new team after having his contract terminated by Oskarshamn IK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). O'Brien's agreement with the team would have seen him stay on until at least the end of 2021-22.

According to reports out of Sweden, O'Brien was arrested Saturday night after a fast food employee in Oskarshamn called police regarding a vehicle that had been at the restaurant. O'Brien has been charged with aggravated drunk driving. Oskarshamn IK Club manager Martin Akerberg said the team found out about the arrest the same night and decided the next day to terminate the club's agreement with O' Brien.

"He is very remorseful and has apologized," said Akerberg. "He wants us to give him a second chance, but it does not work for us."

"I do not know if he is still in Sweden or has gone home to Canada. We have talked to him and he is remorseful, but that does not change anything for us," Akerberg continued.

Besides Anaheim, the 28-year-old O'Brien's rights have also been owned by the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Calgary Flames. However, he has never played a game in the NHL. He's played a total of 213 regular season games in the AHL, though. He also played seven games this season with Riga Dynamo of the KHL before moving on to Sweden. He is a native of Hamilton, Ontario.
