Michael Špaček looks finished for Radim Rulik, and Filip Hronek suddenly gives Czechia an even bigger problem.

That was the real story after the game. Not the score, not the flow, not the usual tune-up chatter before the World Championship.

Rulik made it plain that Špaček is probably done, which is a hard hit for a forward group still sorting roles and matchups before final roster calls.

Then came the second punch. Hronek also got hurt, and the coach did not sound like a man brushing off a minor issue.

When a coach says there is a question mark over a top defenseman and adds that he fears it may be something more serious, the whole bench feels it. That changes pairings, special teams, and the mood around the room.

Rulik's anger at the opponent's rough play matters too. This was not framed as ordinary international edge. It came off like frustration with a game that crossed the line and left Czechia paying for it.

Big complication! Coach Rulík @czehockey admitted after the game that M. Špaček is probably done... On top of that, F. Hronek got injured too. The coach was obviously pissed off at the opponent's unnecessarily rough play. There's a question mark over Hronek. "I'm afraid it might be something more serious," the coach feared... -Zdenek Janda

Hronek concern changes the whole picture

Hronek is not just another name in camp. He had only recently joined Czechia's group from North America, and Rulik had already highlighted him as the clear marquee addition on the blue line.

So if Hronek is limited or out, this stops being a one-player injury story. It becomes a structural problem for a team that leans on him for puck movement, composure, and hard minutes against quality forwards.

Špaček's situation stings in a different way. He arrived in camp healthy after Sparta's playoff exit and was pushing for a ticket to the World Championship roster. Now that push may be over before it really started.

That is why Rulik's postgame tone matters. Coaches can protect a room with soft language. He did the opposite here. He sounded angry, worried, and fully aware that this kind of damage can ripple through the lineup fast.

It also puts more heat on the next few decisions. Czechia are already managing camp competition, late arrivals, and availability questions, with Ondřej Kaše already ruled out before this latest blow.

Now the staff may need to rethink depth down the middle and on the right side of the blue line at the same time. That is a nasty place to be this close to a major tournament.

If Hronek avoids the worst, Czechia can steady themselves. If he does not, this turns from an ugly night into a real roster crisis.
