Nikita Kucherov skates into Martin St-Louis' building Friday with the Bell Centre finally holding the answer to his 2021 shot.

That is the real angle now, not only the score of the series. Montreal is up 3-2, and Kucherov is the one coming back to the city with the pressure on his back.

Fans in Montreal never forgot that beer-in-hand moment from the summer of 2021. It was loud, mocking, and aimed straight at the people in this market.

That kind of thing lives forever in a playoff city. Especially here.

For 5 years, that clip has stayed in the background every time Tampa Bay and Montreal crossed paths. Not always front and center, but never fully gone either.

Now it is back in full view because the setup is perfect. Kucherov and the Lightning need a win to stay alive.

The Canadiens do not need extra fuel for Game 6. But if they wanted some, Kucherov handed it to them a long time ago.

Nikita Kucherov’s press conference remarks could spark regret

That is what makes Friday feel bigger than a normal closeout chance. This is not just about moving on. It is about memory.

If Montreal finishes the job, 21,105 people are going to make sure Kucherov hears every second of it. And he will know exactly why.

That is the price of saying something like that in this market. You may enjoy the moment when you are on top, but the bill can come due years later.

The pressure is heavier because Tampa Bay is no longer dictating the tone of this series. The Canadiens are.

Martin St-Louis has his group in control of the matchup, while the Lightning now have to handle a road elimination game in the loudest building they could have drawn for this spot.

And Kucherov is the face tied most closely to that old wound. Not because he is the only threat on Tampa's bench, but because fans remember exactly who talked when the Cup was already won.

That is why this feels like more than revenge talk. It feels like a chance for Montreal to flip the whole mood of a rivalry memory in 1 night.

If the Canadiens lose, the story waits again. If they win, Kucherov will leave the Bell Centre hearing the response that city has been saving since 2021.
