Evander Kane broke his silence Monday night, and Kurtis Gabriel's comments are the reason why.
Kane still hasn't signed anywhere this offseason, and Monday he finally addressed the noise swirling around his name.
It started with a tweet from World Hockey Report, simply asking what Kane was referring to.
Kane's answer landed at 7:14 PM Monday, and it wasn't subtle.
"I can't wait for the day I decide to share 'my truths.' The only difference? Mine will come with facts, receipts, and the actual truth," Kane wrote.
He didn't stop there.
Kane added a line aimed squarely at anyone who's spoken publicly about him recently: "A lot of people have become far too comfortable speaking publicly while relying on my silence."
Kane's warning comes right after a former teammate went public
That message dropped hours after Gabriel's comments about Kane's time in San Jose started making the rounds.
Kane never named Gabriel directly. He didn't have to.
The timing does the talking, and anyone following the story connected the dots within minutes.

What's notable is the tone. Kane isn't denying anything outright, he's promising a receipts-first rebuttal on his own schedule, whenever that day comes.
It's the hockey version of a player sitting on a highlight tape he refuses to release, letting everyone guess what's on it.
For a guy still hunting for his next contract, picking a public fight over old locker room grievances is a strange hill to stand on.
Teams already weighing whether to call Kane's camp now have this exchange sitting next to everything else in the file.
Nothing about Kane's tweet closes the door on the story. If anything, it just told everyone there's more coming, on his terms, whenever he decides to drop it.

Should Evander Kane release his side of the story now instead of waiting?
