Ottawa Senators officially in trade talks with captain Brady Tkachuk

Brady Tkachuk at one point seemed like a player the Ottawa Senators would never consider trading. According to one report, things have changed drastically.

Brady Tkachuk was the fourth overall pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2018. He was a major piece of the plan, among others, to rebuild the team and turn it into a playoff contender once again. In 2021, Tkachuk was named captain of the Senators, solidifying his spot as Ottawa's franchise player and someone who would be with the team for a long time. After yet another disappointing season in 2023-24 that included missing the playoffs once again, it seems things have changed.

"The #GoSensGo reportedly kicked tires on a potential Brady Tkachuk trade this season, just to 'see what they could get in return.'"

It's also been suggested by an NHL Network analyst that the New Jersey Devils could be in a spot to pursue Tkachuk in the offseason in an attempt to get them back into the playoff hunt.

"Could the New Jersey Devils make a push for Brady Tkachuk in the offseason? 🤔 @Rupper17 is just throwing it out there."

Brady Tkachuk, much like his brother Matthew with the Florida Panthers, is one of those players you hate unless, or until they pay for your team. His tenacity and willingness to get into dirty area, or just get dirty, makes him a valuable asset to any team. No question the Ottawa Senators could receive a large haul in return, but would it be enough to offset the loss of their captain and, essentially, their franchise player? The offseason is just a couple of months away.

Brady Tkachuk recently set a record for most hits in an NHL game with 16 against the New Jersey Devils on Apr. 6.
