The Colorado Avalanche went down 3-1 in their series to the Dallas Stars last night. After the game, Nathan MacKinnon sounded quiet defeated in his post-game interview.

Game four between the two teams was one of the most lopsided affairs of the entire playoffs so far. The Stars thoroughly dominated the home team in all aspects of the game, scoring first, and scoring often. At one point in the contest, the Stars were outshooting Colorado 22-4. In the end, they came away with a 5-1 victory.

DALLAS WE'RE COMING HOME WITH A 3-1 SERIES LEAD!

The Avs were missing key pieces in Valeri Nichushkin and Devon Toews, but Nathan MacKinnon is not using that as an excuse. That being said, he did make a rather shocking revelation after the game. When asked about the team's confidence level, he openly admitted that the team is not feeling their best after going down 3-1 in the series.

Nathan MacKinnon on their confidence level: «It's ok, I guess. We just lost 3 in a row. Not scoring much. Just have to work ourselves out of it.

l wouldn't say it's super high. I mean, it's just natural.

I think when you're not producing and scoring how we usually do - and that starts with us, the top players need to be a lot better.

I think our depth has been really, really good this whole playoff run, so we gotta get going here. We'll give it our all tomorrow night.»

MacKinnon did address the absences of Nichushkin and Toews, but stated that he thinks the team is still good enough to win, even without those players in the lineup.

Nathan MacKinnon: «Obviously we want Val in the lineup and we want Toews in the lineup, but I still feel like we're good enough to win it all.»

Clearly, the effort level was not good enough in game four though, and now Dallas just needs one win with three games left in the series to advance to the Western Conference Final. Will this be the year Dallas finally breaks through to win a Stanley Cup? Be sure to stay tuned to find out.
