Top Mens National Team Will Not Play This Year Due To Budget Cuts

The Norwegian National hockey team has been a top-division nation at the World Championships for the last several seasons.

They are currently ranked 12th in the world for Men by the IIHF. However, their program is in danger of no longer existing.

According to a statement put out by the Norwegian Hockey Federation, the national team will be put on pause for the 2023-24 season. This news comes along with the revelation that the Federation lost close to a million dollars during the 2022-23 season alone.

As of now the plan from the federation is to return after a year hiatus. The Norwegian national team was scheduled to play in tournaments coming up in both November and December.

This now means that notable players like Mats Zuccarello and Andreas Martinsen will be without a nation to play for.
