Nylander Trade to the Metro Division Imminent Per Insider
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been busy this summer, and with two of their biggest superstars up for contract extensions, it appears a lot could get done between now and the start of the season.
Big move incoming?
One of those names is William Nylander, who has been the center of trade rumours for months now, and according to Eklund of Hockey Buzz, that deal could be coming very soon.
In his latest report, Eklund has claimed that a deal with the New York Islanders could be imminent, with Jean-Gabriel Pageau expected to be involved in any type of deal that would happen.
Core four breaking up?
For years now, Toronto have been led by their core four of Nylander, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and John Tavares, and given the little playoff success they've had, it makes sense to change things up.
Both parties are looking for change in order to make a big splash during the 2023-24 season, and without the money to pay Nylander, Matthews and a competent supporting cast, this move seems to make the most sense for Toronto.
