Washington Capitals star Tom Wilson opens up on his biggest rival

With Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin leading the way, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals have built up one of the best rivalries in the NHL in recent years, and enforcer Tom Wilson has played a big role in that.

A rising star

Over the past few years, Wilson has become a pest for opposing teams, while also being able to score well on a line with Ovechkin, leading to a massive payday from the Capitals.

After a slow start to his career, Wilson has averaged over 40 points a season for his last five years, and now, he has opened up on the teams biggest rival, and his true feelings for Crosby.

A heated rival

Despite some heated matchups between the two teams, Wilson, in a recent interview has opened up on Crosby, and just how respected he is.

He's an all-time great player in the game, and for how many times we have played each other and gone back and forth in that rivalry we haven't had too many run ins. He's always been pretty classy, a respected player, at least from my perspective.

There's clearly plenty of respect between the two, even when things can get heated, and he also shared just how he compares with his own teammate, who Crosby has been compared too for their entire career.

I'd say they are much different. You never know what Ovi is gonna come up with. Sid is pretty quiet out there for the most part. Every once in a while he will get fired up, but he sticks to his game and he's not too vocal.

Overall, it appears the two rivals, even after such heated battles share plenty of respect, and with both teams looking revitalized in 2023-24, the rivalry could be reignited once again.
