Nashville Predators general manager David Poile announced Friday afternoon that his team has agreed to terms with defenceman Ben Harpur on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay him $700,000 at the NHL level and $225,000 at the AHL level.

Harpur, 25, played in seven games for the Predators AHL team, the Milwaukee Admirals, after being acquired in a trade from the Toronto Marlies earlier in the season. In those seven games, Harpur registered one assist and added 20 penalty minutes. Prior to the trade, he played in 34 games with the Marlies, posting one goal and 10 assists.

Harpur has played in a total of 103 NHL regular season games, and an additional nine playoff games. Last season saw him appear in a career high 51 games with the Ottawa Senators, scoring one goal and adding four assists. The Ontario native was drafted by the Senators in the fourth round (108th) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
