Speaking with Russian news agency TASS, Stanislav Romanov, the agent for former NHL defenseman Slava Voynov has stated that his client is not negotiating with KHL clubs at the start of the free agency period, and is seriously eyeing a return to the NHL.

A two-time Stanley Cup champion with the LA Kings in 2012 and 2014, Voynov ended up being drummed out of the NHL by a suspension for a domestic violence incident. Since returning to Russia, he won the KHL's Gagarin Cup with SKA St. Petersburg in 2017 (though he did not participate in the playoffs). He was on a one year deal with Avangard Omsk this season, when his contract expired yesterday. Voynov has 11 goals and 30 assists in 59 games for Avangard.

Due to a ruling made by the NHL last year, Voynov will have to serve his suspension for the first 41 games of the upcoming 2020-21 season. A few weeks earlier, Kings team president Luc Robitaille said that he can see Voynov back in the NHL, but it will not be with the Kings.
