After the Canadiens beat Buffalo 3-2 in overtime, Dobes was asked how he felt physically and mentally after 14 playoff games.
His answer was perfect.

That line traveled because it sounded exactly like the goalie Montreal has been riding all spring. Calm. Loose. A little cocky. Fully alive to the moment.
And the thing is, he backed it up again in the biggest spot.
Dobes stopped 37 of 39 shots in Game 7 for a .949 save percentage, including several major saves in overtime before Alex Newhook ended the series.
The quote was funny. The performance was the real story.
Game 6 could have rattled him. The file notes that he had a rough outing there, allowing 6 goals on 33 shots. Then he came right back on the road and held up through another pressure game.
That matters because young goalies are supposed to wobble in a spot like this. Dobes did the opposite.
Across 14 playoff games, he owns a 2.52 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Those are serious numbers for a 24-year-old carrying this kind of workload in his first deep run.
The file also says he became just the 5th goalie in Canadiens history to win a Game 7, joining Carey Price, Patrick Roy, Ken Dryden, and Jacques Plante. He has now won 2 Game 7s in the same postseason.
That is not a nice little side story anymore. That is a playoff identity.
St-Louis gave the night another layer when he revealed he spent much of overtime talking to his late mother and thanked her after Newhook scored. Mike Matheson also told the room before overtime that this was the exact kind of moment players dream about as kids.
Montreal now gets Carolina in the Eastern Conference Final, with Game 1 set for Thursday in Raleigh.
That is a brutal next test.
But the Canadiens are heading there with a goalie who looks untouched by pressure and sounds like he wants the schedule doubled.
That is why Dobes' quote landed so hard. It was funny, yes. It was also a warning.
