It's official, tight end Rob Gronkowski will make his big comeback in the National Football League. After announcing his retirement at the end of the 2018 season, where he won the Super Bowl with the Patriots, Gronk will return to the game, but not in the uniform football fans had expected.

There have been many rumours circulating about a possible reunion with quarterback Tom Brady, but until this afternoon nothing was concluded. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New England Patriots will trade Rob Gronkowski and a seventh round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a fourth round pick.

The trade is currently on hold, as the tight end will have to pass a physical test before the league gives its approval. As further confirmation, Gronkowski's agent Drew Rosenhaus sent the following message to ESPN:

"Pending the physical test, Rob has agreed to play for Tampa this season. He will honor his current contract for the time being."

Following Brady's signing with the Buccs, the former Patriot had shown interest in making a return to the side of the 42-year-old quarterback. Tampa Bay was seen as the only destination that would bring number 87 out of retirement. A three-time Super Bowl champion (XLIX, LI, LIII,) he has also been selected five times for the Pro Bowl and has been named to the 2010 NFL All-Decade Team and the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.

It remains to be seen how the former Patriots veteran will handle his World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) contract. He holds the 24/7 belt, which he earned at the WrestleMania 36 Gala earlier in April.
