Tough guy Nicolas Deslauriers has received a contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks. It was announced Saturday that he had signed a two-year deal worth $1 million annually. It carries through to the end of the 2021-22 season.
Deslauriers, 28 has collected two goals and five assists for seven points this season. He also has a career-high 80 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Ducks in 2019-20. Acquired from Montreal for a fourth-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft on June 30th, 2019, Deslauriers currently leads Anaheim in PIM and ranks second in hits (108).
Deslauriers was originally drafted by the L.A. Kings in the third round (84th overall) in 2009. He never played for the team. Besides Anaheim and Montreal, he spent parts of four seasons with the Buffalo Sabres. In 362 games over his NHL career, he has 26 goals and 56 points. Deslauriers has taken part in several fights this season. His latest was Friday night against Calgary's Zac Rinaldo.
