Not sure I've ever heard a hockey announcer call a coach a moron live, on-air before. However, it happened Monday night during the game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vancouver Canucks.

Tampa defenceman Jan Rutta was given a high-sticking call that was taken back by the officials. After reviewing the play, it was determined that the high-stick happened during a follow through on a shot and, therefore, was not a penalty. Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau wanted an explanation from the officials, as coaches often do. This didn't seem to sit well with the Bolts' broadcast team.

"I don't know why Bruce Boudreau is so perplexed, he knows the rules," said one announcer.

That got this response from colour commentator Bobby "The Chief" Taylor.

"No he doesn't, you never ask a player or coach the rules, they don't know 'em."

"It's a follow-through you moron, it's been that way since 1940," added Taylor.
