Koskinen claps back at media after asked about past inconsistencies
Early in the season, things were not going well for Edmonton Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen, who was often giving up back breaking goals that were costing his team wins.
To his credit, however, he has really turned things around as of late and is playing like a number one goalie that his team so desperately needed. His great play in recent weeks has gained him a ton of praise by the media, but that wasn't always the case. Prior to this great stretch, he was often the fall guy, and hasn't seemed to forget about it. On Monday afternoon, he was asked by media why it seems fatigue kicks in for him after three or four starts in a row, and he clearly wasn't a fan of the question.
«I think that's something where you guys pretty well made up in your heads,» Koskinen replied. «And I'm not going to buy that. I'm going to do my thing and go one day at a time. I'm not worried about that.»
The six-foot-seven Finnish netminder has been arguably the Oilers best player as of late, compiling a 9-1-2 record over his past 12 starts. In that span, he has a fabulous .927 save percentage. With his great play as of late, it may have general manager Ken Holland reconsidering on whether or not he needs to add another goaltender ahead of the trade deadline.
