Avs reportedly not done yet, looking for more trade possibilities
The Colorado Avalanche made the first big trade on Monday, just days before the March 21st deadline, by acquiring Ducks defenseman Josh Manson. The team's d-core is a bit banged up, so this move will surely help, but they are reportedly not done yet.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, he foresees another move in the near future, as they don't intend to stay quiet the rest of the way. The hope is still for the team to improve their roster more in the coming days. Joe Sakic and Co. are looking to add more to an already stacked forward group, and they still remain interested in Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux.
Avs head coach Jared Bednar has stated that he needs more out of his bottom-six, and it makes sense why as Colorado has become somewhat of a top-heavy team. With the likes of Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen, Valeri Nichushkin, Nazem Kadri and Andre Burakovsky doing most of the heavy lifting, the bottom-six seems to have little to no impact in most games, at least offensively.
The bottom-six includes Alex Newhook and J.T. Compher, but it seems that more is needed from the group. They aren't bad defensively, but adding a player like Giroux could improve the lineup from the top to the bottom. It seems imminent that more all-in moves will be on the horizon.
