Just over a week ago, Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Dominik Hasek called out Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin for his comments about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling him a "chicken shit".
Hasek also called on the National Hockey League to suspend all contracts of Russian players. A move that hasn't happened yet, and likely won't occur.
"What!? Not only an alibist, a chicken shit, but also a liar! Every adult in Europe knows well, that Putin is a mad killer and that Russia is waging an offensive war against the free country and its people. The NHL must immediately suspend contracts," Hasek said.
Now, Hasek is calling out the NHL, and other sports leagues and organizations that continue to allow participation of Russian athletes. Hasek posted an article on his Twitter account that was about a Russian gymnast who wore the letter 'Z' on his uniform, a symbol of Putin's war in Ukraine.
In his post, Hasek said, "Poorly! There are still federations in the world that have not "excluded" all Russian athletes. The same applies to clubs in the NHL, but also in the EU and the Czech Republic (not only hockey). It is an advertisement for the Russian regime and aggressions and a huge income for the citizens of the Russian Federation and therefore Russia and its war!!!"
