The Freedom Convoy in Canada has generated plenty of discussion across not only the country, but the United States of America as well.

Recently, it came to light that Winnipeg Jets forward Paul Stastny donated $1,000 to the convoy, something that has drawn criticism from some. The 36-year-old said he did so because he «doesn't like the direction Canada is heading.»

"Being the son of immigrants that left a communist country to come to Canada and have a future where they had their own decisions and do-what-they-want type of freedom is something that's always been instilled in me. And then I know what Canada was like, and I can see where Canada is going, and I think that's what scares me."

"For me, it's not about myself or my wife. It's more about our kids' futures, and you want their future to always be better than yours."

Just like the convoy itself, Stastny's donation has made some happy and others frustrated. The convoy, which started as a protest to end vaccine mandates but turned into an effort to end all COVID-19 measures, has caused a major divide in the country. While some may disagree with Stastny, like everyone else, he is entitled to his views and opinions, and is clearly not in agreeance with the Canadian government in regards to the pandemic.
