The Carolina Hurricanes have won five straight games to open the season for the first time in franchise history. The Oilers have matched their 5-0-0 start after today's game against the New York Rangers, winning 4-1.

Alex Ovechkin has moved into fourth all-time for the most powerplay goals in NHL history, and there's a good chance he moves into 2nd spot by the end of this season.

The Montreal Canadiens released their practice lines this morning and it looks like head coach Claude Julien is doing some tweaking for tonight's game against the Blues. Rookie Nick Suzuki moves off the 2nd line down the 4th, while Jordan Weal moves into his spot next to Max Domi and Artturi Lehkonen. Julien has said the team is looking for more out of Suzuki.

The Oilers have activated forward Josh Archibald from Injured Reserve & have placed forward Colby Cave on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL.

3rd overall pic in 2019 Kirby Dach has been assigned to the Rockford Ice Hogs of the AHL for conditioning purposes. Dach has been out since the preseason with a concussion suffered in a rookie tournament. He'll make his pro debut tonight.
