Phil Kessel is not your run-of-the-mill athlete. He just doesn't fit the prototypical hockey player archetype. One thing is certain. It definitely hasn't stopped Kessel from blowing past the opposition and scoring at will against the best players in the world, all while sporting a magnificent dad bod.

The 32-year-old, two-time Stanley Cup Champion will hit another milestone in his career on Saturday as the Arizona Coyotes are in Denver to take on the surging Colorado Avalanche in what will be Phil's 1000th NHL game.

Kessel is one of only three players who owns an active iron man streak (500+ consecutive games). He has not missed a game in 9 straight seasons. The Madison, Wisconsin native has had a spectacular career to date, posting 357 goals and 824 points in 999 games. Say what you will, but there's no arguing with the stats. Phil Kessel is one hell of a hockey player.

Kessel, who is entering his 14th season in the NHL, has played with four teams over that span. He was acquired by the Coyotes from the Pittsburgh Penguins in June, with Alex Galchenyuk being the main piece heading the other way in the deal.
