He may be 40-years-old, and he may have missed the first four games of the season while was waiting to be signed, but Patrick Marleau proved Thursday night he has plenty of gas left in the tank. Marleau scored twice as the Sharks got their first win of the season, 5-4 over Chicago.

Trailing 2-1 to the Blackhawks in the dying seconds of the opening period, Marleau redirected Erik Karlsson's shot from the point for a power-play goal to tie the score at two goals apiece.

Marleau came through once more in the latter stages of the second period. He crashed the net following a Brent Burns shot from the point, and stuffed in his second tally of the night, evening the score at 4-4.

San Jose has struggled to get anything going this season, and were 0-4-0 before last night's game. Marleau, who had originally been told he was not being brought back by the team he spent in first 19 seasons in the league with, appears to be paying immediate dividends for the Sharks.
