Chicago Blackhawks grant heartwarming wish to 14-year-old with cystic fibrosis

In downtown Chicago today, the Blackhawks made a young hockey players wish come true.

"It's insane, I never thought this would happen, and it did. I got to play with the Chicago Blackhawks." -- This is a quote from Megan Hill, a 14 year old native of Eagle Point, Oregon, and a die hard Chicago Blackhawks fan.

Hill suffers from cystic fibrosis, a hereditary disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. But she certainly doesn't let it stop her from playing competitive ice hockey for the Southern Oregon Junior Spartans 14U Bantam, a recreational hockey team in Medford, Oregon.

Megan fell in love with Chicago Blackhawks after their 2015 Stanley Cup victory. Today, her wish to skate with them was granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Hill stepped onto the ice with the Chicago Blackhawks about 25 minutes into their morning skate. She took to the ice, took some shots and passed the puck around with hawks' forward Brendan Perlini. The 14-year-old even scored a goal on star goaltender Corey Crawford.

After practice, Hill got to meet with 2018 Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Women's National Team member Kendall Coyne Schofield.

She commented on the experience; "I was standing between Corey Crawford and Patrick Kane and they were talking to me and each other and it was just another day." She also noted that she couldn't stop smiling.

Hawks' star forward Patrick Kane also spoke on their morning skate together, referring to Hill's presence as 'uplifting.'

In addition to skating with the Chicago Blackhawks during their morning skate, Hill will also walk the red carpet with the Blackhawks about two hours before tonight's game, in which they will host the San Jose Sharks. (8:30 pm eastern time)
