Ilya Mikheyev has had a busy start to the season. The rookie forward has played in four games for the Maple Leafs, with a goal (scored in season opener) and two assists. He's also become of a fan favorite with his musings on the relative absence of soup eaters in Canada, all done in earnest, but somewhat broken English.
Mikheyev, 25, was signed to an entry level contract by Toronto after a 45 point, 62 game season for Avangard Omsk in the KHL. While the Leafs failed to scout his love for soup, the organization is now doing its best to make up for it. After all, October 10th is Mikheyev's birthday and it's the least they can do.
