Monday's moves: a trade, a return, injuries and more
In a minor deal announced on Monday morning, the Vancouver Canucks have acquired winger David Pope from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Alex Biega.
Biega has played parts of 5 seasons with the Canucks, amassing 36 points in 179 games, while David Pope, who was drafted in the 4th round (109th overall) in 2013, has not played a game in the NHL.
It is unlikely that we will see the 25-year-old Pope in the NHL. This was likely a move made to address a need for the AHL Utica Comets.
Josh Anderson is expected to miss Monday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with what Columbus coach John Tortorella has confirmed is an upper-body injury. With Anderson's absence, Sonny Milano will draw into Monday's lineup. The club has announced another move for tonight's contest as Markus Nutivaara will replace Dean Kukan on the blue line. There's no official timetable for Anderson's return at this point, but it's safe to say the Jackets are hoping that the big winger makes a speedy recovery as the team looks to defy the odds and remain competitive in the Metro
Winnipeg defenseman Dmitry Kulikov is expected to miss Tuesday's game vs. the Penguins due to a personal matter. It's been anything but good news for the Jets blueline so far this season.
Evgeny Kuznetsov will be back in the lineup for the Washington Capitals Tuesday after serving a three-game suspension. It appears he'll slot in at centre on the Caps third line.
The Anaheim Ducks have recalled forward Max Comtois from the San Diego Gulls. Comtois, 20, earned seven points (2-5=7) in 10 games with the Ducks last season.
