With the Evgeny Kuznetsov suspension, Travis Boyd was hoping a real opportunity had presented itself for him to earn a more permanent spot with the Washington Capitals. But it appears that's not to be. With Kuznetzov set to return from his three game suspension after a positive drug test at the international level, the Caps have put Boyd on waivers, without him even managing to get a game in after making the team out of training camp. It looks like Chandler Stephenson has edged him out for the fourth line centre position. If he's not claimed within 24 hours, he'll be returned to Hershey. Boyd could be a good addition to a team wanting more grit in their lineup
In addition to putting Boyd on waivers, the Caps also sent defensemen Jonas Siegenthaler and Martin Fehervary to Hershey to ensure Kuznetsov's return doesn't put the team over the salary cap. Fehervary, who just turned 20, played the first three games of the season with the Caps.
