As the Evander Kane saga continues, it's becoming more and more clear that the rest of the San Jose Sharks do not want to see him come back.

Sharks head coach Bob Boughner said it was expected that the league would handle the situation, and they chose a 21-game suspension for falsifying his COVID vaccination status. Boughner and Sharks captain Logan Couture also expressed their disappointment in how he went against COVID protocol.

«We as a group, put it outside our radar,» Bougner stated. Along with this, he was unsure whether or not Kane would be welcomed back to team facilities during the suspensions.

Couture also added that coaches had individual meetings with players to focus on moving forward without Kane. The potential return for Kane to the Sharks is becoming less likely, or so it seems. Boughner said that ownership and management would first make the decision before it gets down to the coaches and players, which cannot be a good sign for Kane.

Veteran defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic also didn't seem very enthusiastic regarding Kane rejoining the team.

«We'll see once his suspension is over,» Vlasic said.

Logan Couture was also asked if he or anyone else has had any contact with Kane.

«I have not, and I'm not aware of any other player talking to him,» Couture said.

Even coach Bob Boughner hasn't spoken with Kane lately. It seems as if the team is attempting to cut ties with their leading scorer from last year, which is not a bad idea with all of the off-ice problems and drama he brings to the team.

Defenceman Marc-Édouard Vlasic was very blunt in his assessment of the situation.

"[Kane] put himself in this situation. He has personal stuff to handle; on our side, we'll concentrate on hockey."
