Back in July 2020, a very tragic incident occurred when former NHLer Barry Beck's son, Brock, was fatally stabbed in a Binbrook road rage incident.

Family members of Beck's sobbed in a courtroom on Monday as the man, Thomas Vasquez, who stabbed Beck in the abdomen, was sentenced to 1825 days, less 492 days for time served. Vasquez stood and faced the family to express his remorse as he pled guilty to manslaughter.

«I didn't want to bring sorrow to your family or bring shame to mine,» Vasquez said. «This was a random encounter that should never have happened, and it was one of those situations that escalated quickly.»

Despite Vasquez having no criminal history prior to this event, this sentence seems very short. Regardless, it is a very sad situation, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the Beck family.
