Despite David Krejci announcing earlier this week that he will be leaving the NHL to return home and play in Czech Republic next season, the Boston Bruins aren't ruling out a return later down the road.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney was speaking about Krejci and said that there is a possibility he could return at some point, calling it «open ended.» Losing the 35-year-old is a huge blow for the Bruins, who have counted on him as their second line center for over a decade. He has certainly lived up to his end of the bargain throughout his career, being one of the teams most consistent players time and time again, and always seeming to elevate his game come the postseason.

If this is the last we have seen from Krejci, he finishes his career with 215 goals and 730 points in 962 games. He also suited up for 156 career playoff games where he managed 42 goals and `124 points. If he were to rejoin the Bruins at some point, perhaps near playoff time, he would be a huge boost to their lineup as he is still a very good player, finishing the 2020-21 season at just under a point per game pace.
