A couple of weeks have now passed since the tragic death of 20-year-old Mack Motzko, who was killed in a car accident on July 25th in Orono, Minnesota.

Motzko, who's father Bob is the head coach for the University of Minnesota Gophers men's hockey team, was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle that left the roadway, striking several trees, killing 24-year-old Sam Schunmean at the scene, and sending Motzko and 51-year-old James Blue with critical injuries. Motzko succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

It is not known at this time how the young men knew Blue or how they came to be in his vehicle, but a couple of details that are known are that both speed and alcohol were a factor in the accident.

Blue was booked at Hennepin County Jail on July 28th, but a spokesperson at Hennepin County Attorney's Office has since stated that the case had not yet been submitted to the office, so there are no charges currently pending, though that is likely to change as more details come to light.

Blue's lab results reportedly revealed that his blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit and evidence from the scene suggested that the rate of speed at which the vehicle was traveling before the crash was between 94-99 miles per hour.

Mack had played in North American Hockey League last season for the New Mexico Ice Wolves.
