On Monday evening, Emil Heineman was injured on the eve of the matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Utah Hockey Club.
He was hit by a vehicle while walking in Salt Lake City. On Tuesday morning, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced on X that the forward will miss three to four weeks of action due to an upper-body injury.
If you missed it, here's the official statement from the organization:
For the first time since the accident, Heinemanhas provided an update.
Although reports confirmed that Heineman's injuries were not serious, many Canadiens fans were concerned about the young player's health.
24 hours after his team's official announcement, Heineman broke his silence, thanking fans for their support and stating that he plans to come back stronger soon:
The 23-year-old rookie had a great start to the season, with 10 goals and seven assists in 41 games. He played an important role on the team's fourth line, alongside Jake Evans and Joel Armia, considered by some experts to be among the best fourth line in the entire National Hockey League.
Heineman stands at the third rank for goals scored by rookies, with only Matvei Michkov and Macklin Celebrini ahead of him.
While some fans were worried he might not be able to return with the same level of performance, Heineman stated otherwise, saying he intends to come back even stronger.
One thing's certain: we haven't heard the end of that accident, as an official investigation is underway.
