Emil Heineman has been solid for Montreal in 2024/25, but now he'll miss some time after shockingly being involved in a car accident in Salt Lake City ahead of Montreal's matchup with the Utah Hockey Club.
The Montreal Canadiens have been one of the NHL's hottest teams in the past few weeks, but now, they've suffered a setback that absolutely nobody saw coming.
Early on Tuesday, the team announced on social media that forward Emil Heineman suffered an upper body injury, and unfortunately that occurred in a car accident that he was involved in as a pedestrian.
According to the team, Heineman was involved in the accident in Salt Lake City, and now, they have confirmed that as a result, he will miss 3-4 weeks of action, and given the nature of a car accident, that's certainly a lucky escape for the talented winger.
The 23-yer old was in the midst of a breakout year in Montreal, tallying 10 goals and 17 points in his first full season at the NHL level over 41 games played, which is fantastic production given that he's mainly seen time on the fourth line.
As for this tragic accident, details are quite scarce with no one quite knowing exactly what happened, but given the fact that he's only missing 3-4 weeks after being struck by a vehicle in Salt Lake City ahead of their Tuesday night matchup, that's a very lucky escape for Montreal.
Ultimately, we hope those involved in the accident alongside Heineman a healthy escape as well, and hope that the 23-year old former second-round draft pick can get back on the ice ASAP and continue his breakout season as he looks to establish himself as a genuine winger at the NHL level moving forward.
