Salt Lake City Police Release Statement Following Injury to Montreal Canadiens' Emil Heineman in Car Accident
The Montreal Canadiens fan base was shaken this morning after it was revealed that budding young rookie Emil Heineman was injured in a car accident in Utah.
The Canadiens are set to play the Utah Hockey Club tonight, but they will be without one of their key young pieces, Emil Heineman, after he was hit by a car yesterday afternoon.
Now, after the Canadiens announced that Heineman would miss about a month recovering from upper body injuries sustained in the incident, the Salt Lake City police department has released a statement:
At 2:55 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, SLC911 dispatch received information about a car crash involving a pedestrian near 200 East 500 South in Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City police officers responded and began an initial investigation. Officers checked the area for the initial person who made the report, a passerby, and the pedestrian involved but officers could not locate either.
Later in the evening, officers received information from a nearby business, which reported having information likely associated with the crash. Officers learned the pedestrian was a Montreal Canadiens hockey team player.
The team identified the pedestrian as Emil Heineman and did not show any signs of serious injuries and was being attended to by team doctors.
SLCPD officers identified all parties involved in the crash.
The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The SLCPD cannot release any additional details.
Heineman has had an amazing start to his NHL career, on pace for 20 goals in his rookie season, and ranking seventh in points and third in goals among rookies. He, alongside teammate Lane Hutson are showing that the future of the Canadiens is very bright.
We here at Markerzone send our best wishes to Heineman as he recovers from this scary incident.
