Darnell Nurse reportedly being considered for Team Canada at the Four Nations Face-Off: fans show outrage
Darnell Nurse is simply one of the worst defenseman in the NHL, but now, fans are outraged as he is being considered to represent Team Canada.
The Four Nations Face-Off is quickly approaching, and will be the first time in a long time that NHL greats will come together to represent their nation against the best competition possible. With the likes of Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Aleksander Barkov representing their star studded rosters, this should be an incredible event, with crucial selections leading into the 2026 Olympic Games, which will see the return of NHL players after a long absence.
Team Canada arguably have the most choices to make out of any of the four countries, with an incredible wealth of options on their blue line, with the likes of Devon Toews, Cale Makar, Evan Bouchard, Alex Pietrangelo and Josh Morrisey leading the way. Beyond that, there's many options to fill the final spot and a role as an extra, with Mackenzie Weegar, Noah Dobson, Travis Sanheim and Aaron Ekblad all names that have been mentioned.
Now, another name has shockingly been thrown in by Anthony DiMarco of Daily Faceoff, who has revealed that Darnell Nurse could play a role for Team Canada.
Subjectively speaking, your top four is (Devon) Toews, (Cale) Makar, (Shea) Theodore, and (Alex) Pietrangelo, and after that, it's anyone's ball game.
One executive did mention the question of how many power-play defencemen Team Canada can have.

Given how poor Nurse has been, especially relative to the contract he signed with the Oilers, this would be an absolute shock, and the fans in the comments made it clear that it's simply not going to happen.
Given the wealth of defenseman that Team Canada can call upon, there's absolutely no chance that Nurse would be considered for the roster, and if these reactions were anything to go by, the front office knows this would be a major mistake.
