It looks like Jeremy Swayman's days could be numbered in Boston, and now three teams have emerged as the front runners who could trade for him.

With the 2024-25 regular season looming, the Boston Bruins have still yet to come to terms with goalie Jeremy Swayman on a new contract. Recent comments have led to speculation by fans that Swayman might be available in a trade, but there's no indication he wants to leave. Bruins' president, Cam Neely, said recently, "I know that I have 64 million reasons why I'd be playing right now," meaning Swayman turned down an eight-year, $64 million offer.
Swayman's agent, Lewis Gross, responded to Neely's comment on Instagram, defending his client after some had started turning on Swayman. While it isn't common for agents to make public comments during contract negotiations, the defense seems justified in this instance. With some friction between the parties, here are three teams that could be a good trade fit for Swayman if things with the Bruins cannot be worked out.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings might have some interest in Swayman to help improve their playoff standing. The team has been eliminated in the first round in each of the last three seasons, all at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers. While they did add Darcy Kuemper from Washington to help in goal, there's still a question of whether he can carry them deep in the postseason. Swayman could start, while Kuemper could play a more comfortable backup role, and that might just be what the doctors ordered for the Kings to finally make a strong playoff push.

Seattle Kraken

So far, since their inaugural season in 2021, the Kraken have been competitive but haven't enjoyed much success during the playoffs. They strengthened their roster this offseason but, with Philipp Grubauer and Joey Daccord at the helm of their goal, are short on the dependability of a championship contender. Adding Swayman could catapult the Kraken into serious contender status. They have enough assets, both prospects and draft picks, to make a deal work without sacrificing depth.

Montreal Canadiens

With the injury bug biting key players like Patrik Laine and their top prospect in David Reinbacher, the Canadiens may very well look to make a big splash to remain competitive. While they do have serviceable goaltending already, adding Swayman might mean they want to transition from rebuild mode to contender mode.
With Jeremy Swayman's future in Boston cloudy, the talented netminder does have trade value. The situation likely clears up over the next few days, as the Bruins cannot afford to further harm their credibility and on-ice product by botching the handling of this player.
