The NHL waiver wire is heating up ahead of the regular season, and on Tuesday, the Sabres added five players to a list of 27 that were waived.
Over the last five days, we've seen close to 100 players placed on waivers by their respective teams as they look to put together their final regular season opening night roster, but thus far, none have been claimed. That may change on Tuesday however, as a whopping 27 more players were placed on waivers, including a combined 10 from the Buffalo Sabres and the Seattle Kraken.
Like in the last few days, there are very few notable names on the list, and while some certainly have the potential to be players of the future in the NHL, there's no one on here that could be claimed and make an immediate impact for a team at this level.
The regular season begins in just three days time, with the year beginning for most in the days after, and with rosters needing to officially be trimmed down to just 20 players, there should be many more placed on waivers in the coming days. At this point, most teams still find themselves with rosters in the 30's, meaning many more cuts will be coming, and as the season gets closer, the caliber of player being demoted and potentially waived will continue to grow.
At this point, we've seen no one on waivers that has been a shocker, but with young kids trying to make rosters, that could change very soon, so in the week leading up to the season, keep a close eye on these waiver groups as they become even more interesting by the day.
