This all traces back to Switzerland's game against Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
Fiala went down hard along the boards late in the third period after getting tangled up with Tom Wilson.
He was evaluated on the ice before being placed on a stretcher with an aircast and taken to the hospital.
The diagnosis was a fracture in his left lower leg, requiring surgery back in February that ended his regular season early.
