Washington Capitals fans under fire for gross comments to Rangers fans

The Capitals have had a rough go in the playoffs against the Rangers, losing all the first three games in their playoff series. However, Washington fans have sunk to a new low after some were caught making disgusting comments to New York fans amid their latest game.

With the New York Rangers maintaining their reputation as one of the deepest teams in the league and taking this year's PResident's trophy, it was no secret that wild card team the Washington Capitals were going to have trouble in the first round of the playoffs, now losing the series 3-0.

"The Rangers take a commanding 3-0 lead on the Capitals 🗽"

However, disgruntled Washington fans in attendance have taken the smack-talk too far. While the previous game was closing up, a group of Capitals fans taunted the players and fans of the other team by referencing the terror attack of 9/11.

"Chirping '9/11' to a Rangers fan as a WASHINGTON Capitals fan. Room temp IQ."

This reference is being recognized as widely inappropriate and disrespectful to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the tragic event. Additionally, some fans have rightfully pointed out the hypocrisy of the incident, given that the attack also hit the Pentagon in D.C., resulting in nearly 200 casualties.

With the horrific taunts shouted by these Capitals fans, most people who were hoping the Rangers would not sweep have undoubtedly changed their minds. The two teams will play the fourth game in their series tomorrow evening. With three losses behind them, Washington will have to work extra hard to avoid a sweep.
