Tensions rising between Corey Perry and Evander Kane

During last night's game between the Oilers and the Flames, cameras spotted Corey Perry confronting his teammate Evander Kane about a turnover that he caused.

Towards the last few seconds of the second period, The Oilers were up 2-1 against the Flames, at this point during the game and with this close score anybody could have won. This can explain why fans noticed that Corey Perry confronted his teammate Evander Kane after he gave up the puck in a blind pass, abandoning a potential scoring chance for the Oilers.

Check out the replay of the turnover, and the confrontation between Perry and Kane:

You can see that Perry looked awfully upset with Kane, the two exchange what looks like a brief, but heated conversation before Perry slams the bench door shut.

During a post game discussion, Kevin Bieksa puts a somewhat positive spin on this incident, stating that the high tensions are a result of the team preparing for the upcoming playoffs, and that a silly turnover is not something that they want to see this late into the season. Bieksa continues to explain that this is a rather rare outburst from Perry

"He doesn't do this very often, he doesn't yell at teammates, he doesn't get this fired up on the bench, he's usually in his own little world"

Hopefully, Bieksa is correct in speculating that this outburst was caused by the stressful preparation for the playoffs, and that there is nothing deeper going on between the two. Hockey is stressful and sometimes players get upset at their teammates, but as long as it doesn't damage the relationships between the players, it is perfectly natural to sometimes get upset at your teammates. Luckily for Kane and the rest of the team, the Oilers won 4-2 against the Flames.
