The Edmonton Oilers announced on Monday afternoon that they've claimed goaltender Alex Stalock off waivers from the Minnesota Wild.

Stalock, 33, is currently in the second year of a three-year contract worth $2.355 million ($785,000 AAV).

The St. Paul, Minnesota native is close to returning from an upper-body injury that has kept him out of the Wild line-up for the first two months of the 2020-21 campaign.

In 38 starts last season, Stalock had 20 wins, 11 losses, 4 overtime/shootout losses, a 2.67 G.A.A., a .910 save percentage, and 4 shutouts.

Stalock will provide some much needed depth behind Mike Smith, and Mikko Koskinen. It's unclear what his role will be, but once he gets to Edmonton this week he will enter a 14-day quarantine period before he can hit the ice with his new team.
