A New Hockey Deal for Controversial Former NHL Draft Pick Mitchell Miller
Miller was drafted into the NHL by the Arizona Coyotes in 2020. However, after details of his past were brought to light, which included bullying a developmentally challenged school mate and making racist remarks, the Coyotes decided to severe all ties with the blueliner. In November of 2022, the Boston Bruins surprised many by announcing they had signed Miller to a three-year, entry-level contract. Following a flood of backlash, the Bruins later terminated his contract, although Miller was given financial compensation.
The KHL is no stranger to signing controversial players, and is currently home to players like Alex Galchenyuk, Reid Boucher, and Brendan Leipsic.
