Final roster named for Canadian Junior Team

On Friday afternoon, Hockey Canada announced its 25-man roster for the upcoming 2021 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship being held in Edmonton, Alberta.

The roster includes six returning players from the last tournament's gold medal winning team. It also includes 20 first round picks from the 2019 and 2020 NHL entry draft.

14 forwards, 8 defencemen, and 3 goaltenders make up Canada's 25-man roster that will look to win back-to-back gold medals for the first time since 2008 and 2009.

Here is Canada's roster:

Goaltenders: Devon Levi (FLA-2020), Taylor Gauthier, Dylan Garand (NYR-2020).

Defencemen: Braden Schneider (NYR-2020), Kaedan Korczak (VGK-2019), Bowen Byram (COL-2019), Thomas Harley (DAL-2019), Jamie Drysdale (ANA-2020), Jordan Spence (LAK-2019), Kaiden Guhle (MTL-2020), Justin Barron (COL-2020).

Forwards: Kirby Dach (CHI-2019), Connor Zary (CAL-2020), Dylan Holloway (EDM-2020), Cole Perfetti (WPG-2020), Jakob Pelletier (CAL-2019), Alex Newhook (COL-2019), Ryan Suzuki (CAR-2019), Connor McMichael (WSH-2019), Peyton Krebs (VGK-2019), Quinton Byfield (LAK-2020), Dawson Mercer (NJD-2020), Dylan Cozens (BUF-2019), Philip Tomasino (NSH-2019), Jack Quinn (BUF-2020).

Canada will enter the Edmonton bubble on Sunday, and then play two pre-tournament games to get ready for the 2021 World Juniors. The first game is on December 21st against Sweden, and the second game is on December 23rd against Russia. Both games will be at 6 pm ET/4 pm MT (local time).

Canada's quest for back-to-back gold medals will begin on Boxing Day against Germany at 6 pm ET/4 pm MT (local time). All games can be found live on TSN from Christmas Day until January 5th.
