The Florida Panthers look poised to add another player agent to their front office, in an Assistant GM capacity. According to TSN's Frank Seravalli, Panthers GM Bill Zito is on the verge of bringing Brett Peterson (Acme World Sports/Wasserman) into the fold in Sunrise.

Seravalli notes that, interestingly enough, this will mean that the entire contingent of top dogs in the Panthers' front office will have come up through the ranks as player agents, including Paul Krepelka, who was hired at the beginning of November.

In addition to having that specialized experience in abundance, which can be quite helpful during contract negotiations, there is another bit of information that is both unique and historical. If the Panthers do indeed bring Peterson into the fold as an Assistant GM, it will mark the first time a man of African-American descent will have held such a position at the NHL level, which is enormously important.

Zito has a connection to Peterson, as Zito helped create the Acme World Sports agency, which was purchased by Wasserman earlier in 2020. Peterson held the title of Vice President for Wasserman.

This move comes as just one of many that Zito has made in an attempt to re-build the entire front office in South Florida.

Update: I'm happy to report that Brett Peterson's hiring is now OFFICIAL! More details available here:
