MAJOR: Blockbuster Goalie Trade Set to Go Down This Weekend
A new rumour emerged concerning the Buffalo Sabres about a potential major change in the organization.
Major Change Incoming for the Sabres?
Eklund, the anonymous insider, reported that the Sabres are on the verge of getting a top goalie in a trade that could happen in a few days!
"Sabres Closing in on a 'serious goalie' THIS Weekend. This is from a source... The names, I would imagine, are limited to likely Hellebuyck or Logan Thompson. Stay tuned"
This season, the Sabres have high hopes and are relying on Devon Levi, a rookie, to do the job. Securing a top goalie would certainly help their chances.
Which Top Goalie?
As we mentionned ealier, Eklund thinks the top contenders are Logan Thompson and Connor Hellebuyck.
Thomspon's entry-level contract is incredibly precious for the Golden Knights, who have almost no cap space. They likely won't trade him, but if they did, the Sabres would be interested.
As for Hellebuyck, well, as you probably know, he's been involved in a lot or trade rumours this summer. It was reported that the goalie wants out of Winnipeg, but the Jets aren't in a hurry to lose him.
