Kyle Dubas is been trying to pry away some of the Leafs best front-office personnel in an effort to make the Penguins' front office better.
Dubas Attempting To Poach Top Leafs Personnel
Kyle Dubas is plenty familiar with the Leafs front office. Now as the President of Hockey Operations in Pittsburgh, he will be looking into some of his former employees as candidates for a role in Pittsburgh.
Insider James Mirtle reported the following about who Dubas may want in Pittsburgh:

"Other talk I'm hearing is that the Leafs will try to keep assistant GM Brandon Pridham, although they don't have a vacant GM role to offer him and the Penguins now do, so theoretically that could be a factor.
Other teams believe Dubas will also attempt to bring over Leafs head scout Wes Clark and members of Toronto's analytics department, although the complicating factor is many of them are under contract."
A head scout and assistant GM would be major losses for the Leafs but it doesn't end just there.
Elliotte Friedman spoke on the same topic and said the following:
"I think the two names people talk about are Wes Clark and Darryl Metcalf, who is one of their assistant general managers"
So now it looks like Dubas wants two assistant GMs and a Head Scout all from Toronto shaving them of any front-office assets. This would throw a massive wrench in the Leafs plans for the future too because Dubas could offer top positions to his former subordinates.
Brandon Pridham could be the Penguins' GM, Wes Clark could be the Penguins' director of scouting, and Metcalf could be the 2nd in command to Pridham. This would be disastrous for the Leafs because it would mean that letting go of Dubas meant they were letting go of three more key front-office assets on top of Jason Spezza leaving as well.
