The Hurricanes will be looking to sign their franchise player,
Sebastian Aho, to a long-term extension which they're hoping comes at a relatively cheap price tag.
Hurricanes Hoping to Pull Off a Steal With Their Franchise Player
Sebastian Aho is quietly one of the top players in the league. At his best, he is a top 10 center in the league, and at his worst, he is a top 20 center. He is very consistent and has been the face of the Carolina Hurricanes franchise for a few years now.
With his contract ending next season, he is due for a pay raise making $8.46m at the moment. Many predict he could get 8 figures on his next contract but the Carolina Hurricanes look to be hoping for something cheaper than that.

Due to how low-scoring Carolina's system is and how poor their powerplay is, Aho gets described as a 100-point player on a team that has a more offensive system. Getting any 100-point player for under $10 million is a steal in this day and age.
With Carolina looking to win a cup, they will need every dollar they can get to put towards championship level pieces like a goal scorer.
