Draft day trades are always fun. Per Nick Kypreos, we may see two major ones focused between the pipes.
Demko and Swayman May Be Made Available
The Vancouver Canucks are somewhat in no-man's land when it comes to their roster. They've traded to add pieces, but they're also eyeing trades to sell off veterans.
One of these veterans is Thatcher Demko, who at times looks to be a top-10 goaltender in the league.
Making $5-million locked in long-term, a contending team could see Demko as the man to take them on a deep run. If these playoffs have proven anything, with Sergei Bobrovsky's brilliance, and Adin Hill's emergence, a good goalie is key for playoff success.
Jeremy Swayman is more interesting on the other hand.
The 24-year-old is a pending RFA, and is definitely due for a raise in the off-season. Swayman has been infallible since he made the NHL last-season, playing second-fiddle to Linus Ullmark on the record-breaking Boston Bruins.
Unfortunately, the Bruins can't afford to keep both, and it would be hard to move on from the likely Vezina-winner, so Swayman could see a change of address.
It is not hard to imagine that a team may view Swayman as their man of the future, as goalies have a different development path than skaters. We likely haven't seen prime Swayman yet, which makes him an incredibly exciting trade candidate.
An Exciting Draft Day
It's starting to sound like draft day will be memorable!
