A 2019 first-round pick who has refused to sign in the past has changed his mind and signed with the Sabres bolstering their blue line.

Buffalo Sabres Finally Manage to Sign Top Prospect Who Initially Refused to Join Team

Ryan Johnson was originally drafted in 2019, 31st overall. While he was the last pick of the first round, he has proven himself as a first-round talent throughout his college career at the University of Minnesota.

Praised for his elite skating and defense while having some slight offensive flair, Johnson could be a great second-pairing defenseman behind Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power.

Johnson finished his four years at the University of Minnesota and there was lots of chatter about him potentially not signing with Buffalo because of how bad the Sabres had been.
